Space Travel & Warp

Everything you need to know about leaving a planet, surviving the void, and reaching your destination with your inventory intact.

Space Mechanics

How to Enter Space

Every planet has at least one Space Station in orbit. To reach space:

  1. Board your spacecraft โ€” You need a space-capable vehicle (Sleipnir, Quad-Wing Interceptor, etc.)
  2. Equip a Space Thruster โ€” Your ship needs this attached to break through the atmosphere
  3. Fly upward โ€” Head straight up from the planet surface until you pass through the atmosphere
  4. Arrive at orbit โ€” Youโ€™ll enter the open space environment around the planetโ€™s space station

Atmospheric exit costs:

  • Space Thruster decay: ~0.10 PED per exit/entry
  • Fuel (oil) consumption: Varies by ship, typically small amounts

Getting to Space Without a Ship

If you donโ€™t own a spacecraft:

  1. Teleport from space station to planet โ€” Teleporting from an orbiting space station down to a planet is now free (the old 7 PED fee has been removed). Note: you cannot teleport directly up to a station โ€” you must fly there.
  2. Interplanetary teleportation โ€” A new token-based system allows travel between space stations: costs 15 Teleportation Tokens per use with a 150 kg inventory weight limit.
  3. Find a ride โ€” Ask in chat for someone heading to space who can carry passengers
  4. Use a warp service โ€” Mothership operators pick up passengers at space stations

PvP Rules in Space

[!CAUTION] Space is a lootable PvP zone. This is one of the most important things to understand before leaving any planet.

ZonePvP StatusLootable?
Planet surface (most areas)โŒ No PvPโŒ No
Planet PvP zones (marked)โœ… PvPโš ๏ธ Some items
Space stationsโŒ Safe zoneโŒ No
Open space (between planets)โœ… Full PvPโœ… Yes โ€” stackable items

What can be looted if youโ€™re killed in space:

  • โœ… Stackable items (ores, enmatters, ammo, probes, sweat, etc.)
  • โœ… Items in your shipโ€™s cargo hold
  • โŒ Equipped weapons and armor (these stay with you)
  • โŒ Non-stackable items (most equipment)
  • โŒ PED currency (your PED card is safe)

Travel Routes

Planet-to-Planet Distances

Space in EU is not instantaneous โ€” flying manually between planets takes real time.

RouteApproximate Flight Time (Quad-Wing)Risk Level
Calypso โ†’ Arkadia~45-60 minutesMedium
Calypso โ†’ Cyrene~45-60 minutesMedium
Calypso โ†’ Next Island~30-45 minutesMedium
Calypso โ†’ Toulan/Monria~30-45 minutesMedium
Calypso โ†’ ROCKtropia~30-45 minutesMedium
Calypso โ†’ ARIS~10-15 minutesLow-Medium
Calypso โ†’ Setesh~5-10 minutesLow
Any planet โ†’ Adjacent planet~20-40 minutesLow-Medium

[!NOTE] Flight times are approximate and depend on your ship speed and navigation path. Flying in a straight line is faster but more dangerous (predictable for pirates). ARIS and Setesh are moons orbiting Calypso, so they are the closest and safest destinations from Calypso Space Station.

Warp Costs (Mothership Services)

Warp is the safe, instant way to travel between planets. Player-owned motherships and privateers offer warp services:

Service TypeTypical CostSpeedSafety
Mothership warp7-22 PEDInstantโ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…
Privateer warp10-25 PEDInstantโ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…
Manual flight (own ship)Fuel only (~2-5 PED)30-60 minโ˜…โ˜…โ˜†โ˜†โ˜†

How to use a warp service:

  1. Go to the space station orbiting your current planet
  2. Check planet chat, Discord, or forum for active warp operators
  3. Board the mothership when it arrives at the station
  4. Pay the fee (usually via direct trade)
  5. The operator warps everyone to the destination planetโ€™s station

[!TIP] Some warp operators run scheduled services (e.g., โ€œCalypso โ†’ Arkadia warp at 20:00 UTC dailyโ€). Check community Discord servers and the PlanetCalypsoForum for schedules.

Safe vs. Dangerous Routes

Higher risk zones:

  • Direct lines between popular planets (pirates camp these)
  • Areas near pirate-controlled space stations
  • Routes during peak playing hours (more pirates active)

Lower risk zones:

  • Off-angle flight paths (donโ€™t fly in a straight line)
  • Routes during off-peak hours
  • Close to space station safe zones

Pirate Hotspots

Pirates (player pirates, not NPCs) tend to camp:

  • The space between Calypso and Arkadia (highest traffic route)
  • Approaches to busy space stations
  • Areas where traders commonly carry loot between planets

Space Loot

What Drops in Space

Space has its own ecosystem of mobs and resources:

Space Mob Hunting

  • Space mobs spawn in open space between planets
  • They drop resources and items unique to space hunting
  • Space hunting requires a combat-capable ship (usually multi-crew)
  • Loot is distributed to the shipโ€™s crew based on contribution

Mining in Space

  • Limited mining opportunities exist at certain space locations
  • Requires specialized equipment
  • High risk due to PvP exposure while mining

[!WARNING] Space combat and mining are advanced activities. They require expensive equipment, crew coordination, and acceptance of PvP risk. New players should focus on safe transport between planets, not space combat.

Practical Travel Tips

Pre-Flight Checklist

  1. Empty your inventory of stackable items โ€” If youโ€™re flying manually, deposit everything lootable at a storage terminal
  2. Carry only essentials โ€” Equipped gear (weapon, armor) is safe; stackable ammo/resources are not
  3. Fuel up โ€” Make sure your ship has enough oil for the journey
  4. Check thruster condition โ€” Ensure your Space Thruster has adequate TT remaining
  5. Download planet data โ€” Before traveling to a new planet, download its assets via the game client to avoid long loading in space

[!CAUTION] Download planet data BEFORE traveling! In the Client Loader, click Tools (next to the Launch button) and download data for your destination planet while logged in. Failing to do this means youโ€™ll be sitting in space unable to land while the client downloads gigabytes of data โ€” wasting time and fuel.

Planet Landing Guide (Updated Mid-2025)

The mid-2025 space update changed several travel mechanics. Hereโ€™s the current landing procedure for each destination:

DestinationLanding Method
Calypso, Arkadia, Cyrene, Rocktropia, Next IslandAim at the planet โ€” the landing trigger zone is large and forgiving
MonriaEnter Monria Space Station โ†’ use the teleporter (dropdown menu, top-right). This is the only way in or out. Free.
ToulanUse waypoint: /wp [Space, 85591, 81634, 106, Toulan Approach] (coordinates may be slightly off due to space resize)
Any planet from its Space StationTeleport down for free (as of mid-2025 โ€” old 7 PED fee removed)
Arkadia Moon โ†’ ArkadiaFree teleport available
Calypso from MonriaPossible via TP; reverse direction (Calypso โ†’ Monria) is not possible via TP

[!NOTE] The area between planets and space stations is no longer lootable despite the in-game banner message still appearing. However, once you leave the station vicinity and enter open space, you enter Red PvP and become lootable. Check the interactive space PvP map โ€” enable the โ€œPvP (Lootable)โ€ checkbox to see exact zones.

Ground PvP Zone Identification

PvP doesnโ€™t only exist in space. Ground-based PvP zones are marked by icons on your HUD:

Zone TypeRadar IconCan Be Killed? Can Be Looted?
Safe (default)NoneโŒ NoโŒ No
Orange PvP๐ŸŸ  Orange iconโœ… YesโŒ No
Red PvP๐Ÿ”ด Red iconโœ… Yesโœ… Yes โ€” Materials & Resources tabs

How to check: Look at the 2nd icon below your radar. Hover over it to confirm the zone type. Red means everything in your Materials and Resources inventory tabs is lootable.

[!WARNING] Calypso has unmarked PvP zones. The southwest region of Calypso has non-lootable PvP zones between some Land Areas that are not indicated on the map. Always check your radar icon when traveling through unfamiliar areas.

Whatโ€™s lootable in Red PvP zones:

  • โœ… Everything in Materials and Resources inventory tabs
  • โœ… Items in Vehicle Inventory or containers (these are NOT protected!)
  • โŒ Equipped weapons and armor
  • โŒ Non-stackable items (most equipment)
  • โŒ PED currency (your PED card is safe)

Donโ€™t Carry Valuables

[!CAUTION] The #1 rule of space travel: Donโ€™t bring anything you canโ€™t afford to lose.

Before leaving a planet:

  • Deposit all ores, enmatters, and mined resources at a storage terminal
  • Sell or store stackable loot
  • Move excess ammo to storage
  • Keep only whatโ€™s equipped on your avatar

Use a Mothership Service When Possible

For any valuable cargo, always use a warp service:

  • Your items are transported safely (no PvP during warp)
  • Cost is predictable (7-22 PED vs. potential total loss to pirates)
  • Time is instant vs. 30-60 minutes of manual flight
  • No fuel or thruster decay costs

Backup Gear Strategies

If you must carry items through space (e.g., relocating to a new planet):

  1. Multiple small trips โ€” Move items in small batches to limit maximum loss
  2. Off-peak timing โ€” Travel during low-population hours (check server status)
  3. Irregular routes โ€” Donโ€™t fly in a straight line between stations
  4. Speed over firepower โ€” Use the fastest ship you have, not the best-armed
  5. Group travel โ€” Coordinate with other travelers for safety in numbers

Emergency Procedures

If attacked by pirates:

  • Flee toward the nearest space station โ€” Safe zones disable PvP
  • Donโ€™t try to fight back in a small ship โ€” Pirates are equipped for combat, youโ€™re not
  • Accept the loss โ€” If you get killed, accept it, learn from it, and bring less next time
  • Report to authorities โ€” Just kidding, piracy is legal in EU space. Itโ€™s part of the game.

Cost-Benefit Summary

Travel MethodCostTimeRiskBest For
TP to station + warp7+15 = ~22 PED5 minโ˜…โ˜†โ˜†โ˜†โ˜† (None)Cargo, first-time travel
Own ship, careful route~3-5 PED (fuel/decay)30-60 minโ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†โ˜†Budget travel, empty inventory
Own ship, straight line~3-5 PED20-40 minโ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…Reckless thrill-seekers only

[!TIP] For new players: Always use warp services. The 15-22 PED cost is trivial compared to the risk of losing hundreds of PED in lootable cargo, plus the time saved is significant. Save manual space flight for when youโ€™re experienced and carrying nothing valuable.
