Mentor Program

Find an experienced guide, complete three tasks, and graduate with free armor and a vehicle. The mentor system is one of the best head-starts in Entropia Universe โ€” and most new players skip it.

Why Get a Mentor?

The Mentor Program pairs new players (โ€œDisciplesโ€) with experienced veterans (โ€œMentorsโ€) who provide:

  • Guided progression โ€” A real person answering your questions in real-time
  • Free graduation rewards โ€” Armor set + vehicle (worth 20โ€“50+ PED)
  • Team hunting โ€” Your mentor can teach you mob selection, weapon timing, and loot awareness
  • Skill knowledge โ€” Which Codex rewards to pick, which professions to prioritize, and common mistakes to avoid
  • Social entry โ€” Mentors often introduce you to their society and broader community

[!TIP] Get a mentor on Day 1. The sooner you register, the sooner you start earning progress toward graduation rewards. Thereโ€™s no downside โ€” itโ€™s free.

How to Register

Finding a Mentor

  1. Open the Action Library (press N)
  2. Search for โ€œMentor Registerโ€
  3. Click the Mentor Register icon โ€” this opens the mentor browser
  4. Browse available mentors and read their profiles

Choosing the Right Mentor

Not all mentors are equal. Before selecting one:

CriteriaWhy It Matters
Time zoneYou need overlapping play times for team activities
Activity levelCheck when they were last online โ€” inactive mentors canโ€™t help
Written profileDetailed profiles signal commitment; empty ones signal laziness
RatingPrevious disciples rate their mentors โ€” check the score
CommunicationMessage them before registering โ€” see if they respond and are helpful

[!IMPORTANT] Chat with potential mentors before committing. Ask about their play schedule, what planet theyโ€™re on, and what activities they focus on. A mentor who only mines wonโ€™t be much help if you want to hunt.

Registration Process

  1. Select your chosen mentor from the browser
  2. Confirm the registration โ€” you are now their Disciple
  3. Your mentor receives a notification
  4. Check progress anytime: Action Library โ†’ search โ€œMentoringโ€ โ†’ open Mentoring window

Graduation Requirements

To graduate and receive your rewards, you must complete three task categories with your mentor:

Task 1: Team Hunting

RequirementDetails
WhatKill and loot at least 1 creature
HowForm a team with your mentor (press T โ†’ invite mentor)
WhereAny planet, any creature
Key ruleYou must be in the same team as your mentor when the kill happens

Tips:

  • Your mentor should pick a creature appropriate for your skill level
  • Both of you should be near the creature when it dies
  • Loot the creature after it drops โ€” this is tracked separately from the kill

Task 2: Mining

RequirementDetails
WhatSuccessfully mine 1 resource claim
HowUse a Finder tool + probes to locate and extract a resource
WhereAny planet
Key ruleA successful claim is one where you actually find a resource deposit

Tips:

  • Your mentor can lend you a basic TT Finder if you donโ€™t have one
  • Buy probes from the Trade Terminal (very cheap)
  • Mining near your mentor makes it easy to get help if youโ€™re stuck
  • A single successful claim is all you need โ€” no minimum TT value required

Task 3: Crafting

RequirementDetails
WhatSuccessfully craft 1 item
HowUse a Blueprint (BP) + materials at a crafting machine
WhereAny planet with a crafting terminal
Key ruleThe craft must succeed (produce an output item)

Recommended approach:

  1. Travel to Planet Cyrene
  2. Find the BP Technician NPC
  3. Buy the Muscle Oil Compound B Blueprint (costs 0.01 PED)
  4. Buy the required materials from the Trade Terminal
  5. Craft at a nearby crafting machine

[!TIP] The Muscle Oil Compound B Blueprint from Cyrene is the cheapest and most reliable way to complete the crafting graduation task. It uses TT-available materials and has a reasonable success rate.

Alternative: If youโ€™re already on another planet, buy any Technician Blueprint (0.01 PED each) from that planetโ€™s BP Technician. Most planets have one near their main city.

Skill Progress

In addition to the three tasks, you need to show skill progression in:

  • Anatomy โ€” Gained from hunting (every kill)
  • Geology โ€” Gained from mining (every probe drop)
  • Engineering โ€” Gained from crafting (every craft attempt)

These progress automatically as you complete the three tasks above. No separate action is needed โ€” the mentoring window tracks it automatically.

Graduation Rewards

When all three tasks are complete and skill progress is sufficient, you graduate automatically. Your rewards:

Graduation Armor Set

You receive a full armor set whose design depends on which planet youโ€™re on when you reach 100% completion:

PlanetArmor Style
CalypsoCDF-themed armor
ArkadiaArkadian military armor
CyreneA.R.C. faction armor
ToulanNawa-themed armor
OtherDefault graduation set

[!NOTE] The graduation armor is a solid starter set comparable to early (L) armor options. While it wonโ€™t replace mid-tier sets, itโ€™s free and provides meaningful protection during your first weeks of hunting.

Explorer Mk. 1 (L) Vehicle

A free limited vehicle for ground transportation. Features:

  • Faster than running on foot
  • Limited durability (it will eventually break)
  • Great for teleporter discovery runs
  • Counts as a โ€œrealโ€ vehicle โ€” can be used in most outdoor areas

Knowledge & Connections

The most valuable graduation reward isnโ€™t the gear โ€” itโ€™s:

  • Understanding of core game mechanics from a veteranโ€™s perspective
  • Introduction to a society and community
  • Confidence in hunting, mining, and crafting fundamentals

Tips for Disciples

  1. Be proactive โ€” Donโ€™t wait for your mentor to message you. Reach out with questions.
  2. Schedule sessions โ€” Agree on specific times to play together for graduation tasks.
  3. Accept advice gracefully โ€” Even if it contradicts what you read online. Your mentor has hands-on experience.
  4. Donโ€™t rush graduation โ€” The tasks are designed to teach you fundamentals. Take time to understand why youโ€™re doing each step, not just checking boxes.
  5. Stay in contact โ€” Even after graduation, your mentor is a valuable resource.

Tips for Mentors

If youโ€™re an experienced player considering becoming a mentor:

  1. Write a detailed profile โ€” Disciples filter by profile quality
  2. Be available โ€” Set realistic expectations for your play schedule
  3. Teach the โ€œwhyโ€ โ€” Donโ€™t just carry your disciple through tasks; explain the mechanics
  4. Recommend Codex reward priorities โ€” Always Stamina first, then Perception/Anatomy/Alertness
  5. Warn about common mistakes โ€” Enhancers, overpriced (L) weapons, selling rare loot to TT
  6. Introduce them to your society โ€” Community integration is the #1 predictor of player retention

Tracking Progress

In-Game Tracker

  1. Open the Action Library (press N)
  2. Search for โ€œMentoringโ€
  3. Click the Mentoring icon
  4. View your progress bars for each task category

The mentoring window shows:

  • Overall completion percentage
  • Individual task completion status (Hunt โœ“ / Mine โœ“ / Craft โœ“)
  • Skill progress bars (Anatomy / Geology / Engineering)
  • Mentor information and communication tools

[!TIP] Check your mentoring progress regularly โ€” sometimes a task registers as complete before you realize it, especially if youโ€™ve been casually hunting or mining.
