Mentor Program
Find an experienced guide, complete three tasks, and graduate with free armor and a vehicle. The mentor system is one of the best head-starts in Entropia Universe — and most new players skip it.
Why Get a Mentor?
The Mentor Program pairs new players (“Disciples”) with experienced veterans (“Mentors”) who provide:
- Guided progression — A real person answering your questions in real-time
- Free graduation rewards — Armor set + vehicle (worth 20–50+ PED)
- Team hunting — Your mentor can teach you mob selection, weapon timing, and loot awareness
- Skill knowledge — Which Codex rewards to pick, which professions to prioritize, and common mistakes to avoid
- Social entry — Mentors often introduce you to their society and broader community
[!TIP] Get a mentor on Day 1. The sooner you register, the sooner you start earning progress toward graduation rewards. There’s no downside — it’s free.
How to Register
Finding a Mentor
- Open the Action Library (press
N) - Search for “Mentor Register”
- Click the Mentor Register icon — this opens the mentor browser
- Browse available mentors and read their profiles
Choosing the Right Mentor
Not all mentors are equal. Before selecting one:
| Criteria | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Time zone | You need overlapping play times for team activities |
| Activity level | Check when they were last online — inactive mentors can’t help |
| Written profile | Detailed profiles signal commitment; empty ones signal laziness |
| Rating | Previous disciples rate their mentors — check the score |
| Communication | Message them before registering — see if they respond and are helpful |
[!IMPORTANT] Chat with potential mentors before committing. Ask about their play schedule, what planet they’re on, and what activities they focus on. A mentor who only mines won’t be much help if you want to hunt.
Registration Process
- Select your chosen mentor from the browser
- Confirm the registration — you are now their Disciple
- Your mentor receives a notification
- Check progress anytime: Action Library → search “Mentoring” → open Mentoring window
Graduation Requirements
To graduate and receive your rewards, you must complete three task categories with your mentor:
Task 1: Team Hunting
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| What | Kill and loot at least 1 creature |
| How | Form a team with your mentor (press T → invite mentor) |
| Where | Any planet, any creature |
| Key rule | You must be in the same team as your mentor when the kill happens |
Tips:
- Your mentor should pick a creature appropriate for your skill level
- Both of you should be near the creature when it dies
- Loot the creature after it drops — this is tracked separately from the kill
Task 2: Mining
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| What | Successfully mine 1 resource claim |
| How | Use a Finder tool + probes to locate and extract a resource |
| Where | Any planet |
| Key rule | A successful claim is one where you actually find a resource deposit |
Tips:
- Your mentor can lend you a basic TT Finder if you don’t have one
- Buy probes from the Trade Terminal (very cheap)
- Mining near your mentor makes it easy to get help if you’re stuck
- A single successful claim is all you need — no minimum TT value required
Task 3: Crafting
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| What | Successfully craft 1 item |
| How | Use a Blueprint (BP) + materials at a crafting machine |
| Where | Any planet with a crafting terminal |
| Key rule | The craft must succeed (produce an output item) |
Recommended approach:
- Travel to Planet Cyrene
- Find the BP Technician NPC
- Buy the Muscle Oil Compound B Blueprint (costs 0.01 PED)
- Buy the required materials from the Trade Terminal
- Craft at a nearby crafting machine
[!TIP] The Muscle Oil Compound B Blueprint from Cyrene is the cheapest and most reliable way to complete the crafting graduation task. It uses TT-available materials and has a reasonable success rate.
Alternative: If you’re already on another planet, buy any Technician Blueprint (0.01 PED each) from that planet’s BP Technician. Most planets have one near their main city.
Skill Progress
In addition to the three tasks, you need to show skill progression in:
- Anatomy — Gained from hunting (every kill)
- Geology — Gained from mining (every probe drop)
- Engineering — Gained from crafting (every craft attempt)
These progress automatically as you complete the three tasks above. No separate action is needed — the mentoring window tracks it automatically.
Graduation Rewards
When all three tasks are complete and skill progress is sufficient, you graduate automatically. Your rewards:
Graduation Armor Set
You receive a full armor set whose design depends on which planet you’re on when you reach 100% completion:
| Planet | Armor Style |
|---|---|
| Calypso | CDF-themed armor |
| Arkadia | Arkadian military armor |
| Cyrene | A.R.C. faction armor |
| Toulan | Nawa-themed armor |
| Other | Default graduation set |
[!NOTE] The graduation armor is a solid starter set comparable to early (L) armor options. While it won’t replace mid-tier sets, it’s free and provides meaningful protection during your first weeks of hunting.
Explorer Mk. 1 (L) Vehicle
A free limited vehicle for ground transportation. Features:
- Faster than running on foot
- Limited durability (it will eventually break)
- Great for teleporter discovery runs
- Counts as a “real” vehicle — can be used in most outdoor areas
Knowledge & Connections
The most valuable graduation reward isn’t the gear — it’s:
- Understanding of core game mechanics from a veteran’s perspective
- Introduction to a society and community
- Confidence in hunting, mining, and crafting fundamentals
Tips for Disciples
- Be proactive — Don’t wait for your mentor to message you. Reach out with questions.
- Schedule sessions — Agree on specific times to play together for graduation tasks.
- Accept advice gracefully — Even if it contradicts what you read online. Your mentor has hands-on experience.
- Don’t rush graduation — The tasks are designed to teach you fundamentals. Take time to understand why you’re doing each step, not just checking boxes.
- Stay in contact — Even after graduation, your mentor is a valuable resource.
Tips for Mentors
If you’re an experienced player considering becoming a mentor:
- Write a detailed profile — Disciples filter by profile quality
- Be available — Set realistic expectations for your play schedule
- Teach the “why” — Don’t just carry your disciple through tasks; explain the mechanics
- Recommend Codex reward priorities — Always Stamina first, then Perception/Anatomy/Alertness
- Warn about common mistakes — Enhancers, overpriced (L) weapons, selling rare loot to TT
- Introduce them to your society — Community integration is the #1 predictor of player retention
Tracking Progress
In-Game Tracker
- Open the Action Library (press
N) - Search for “Mentoring”
- Click the Mentoring icon
- View your progress bars for each task category
The mentoring window shows:
- Overall completion percentage
- Individual task completion status (Hunt ✓ / Mine ✓ / Craft ✓)
- Skill progress bars (Anatomy / Geology / Engineering)
- Mentor information and communication tools
[!TIP] Check your mentoring progress regularly — sometimes a task registers as complete before you realize it, especially if you’ve been casually hunting or mining.
